SURPRISE, AZ (April 15, 2009)The Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex has been selected the United States Tennis Association Central Arizona Member Organization of the Year.
John Austin, recreation manager of the complex, will accept the award at the Central Arizona USTA Annual Awards Dinner, Saturday, April 18.

SURPRISE, AZ (April 9, 2009)The Surprise Community and Recreation Services department is offering a Summer Youth Girls Volleyball League which will begin in late May. Girls, ages 7-15, will learn the basic fundamentals and skills associated with the game of volleyball in an atmosphere where participation and fun are top priority.

This program, developed at Stanford University, will be held on Mondays, April 13 - May 18, from 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., at the Sierra Montana Recreation Center, 14861 N. Spring Lane.
Co-sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging and the Surprise Community and Recreation Services / Senior Services, the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is a workshop for people age 18 and over that are coping with a chronic disease.
The workshop will teach day-to-day management skills and provide tips to maintain and/or increase a person's activities. This course seeks to provide an interactive learning environment in which the participant can practice and master self-management techniques that positively affect quality of life factors.
A recommended companion book will be available in class for $21.00. Class size is limited and pre-registration will be required. To register please visit the Surprise Senior Center, 15832 N.
